In Mexico only one thing will be stolen from you,
and that will be your heart.

Many non-Mexican friends continually ask me, is it safe to travel to Mexico? and I always answer YES without hesitation.

Mexico is the 7th most visited country by international travelers in the ranking of the world tourism organization. This has to give you a clear answer, not only I say it, they say it.

I am sorry to say that what you have seen and heard on the news is not entirely true, as to take it as the absolute truth that dictates whether or not you travel to the taco capital of the world

If travelers had paid attention they would not be in their countries in love with what they experienced in the Aztec city, I assure you. They wouldn’t have eaten the best tacos and street food of their lives, they wouldn’t have known what the capital’s zocalo looks like, or they wouldn’t have marveled at the city of the gods, Teotihuacán.

I was born, I grew up and now I live in CDMX, I am from here. That is why I am aware that in this city and in the country there are conflicts that have hit the country, and certainly none of these facts are related to tourism. In short, Mexico is a safe country for tourism, so much so that it is the most visited country in Latin America.

My recommendations as a local, when you come to Mexico City

When you travel to this huge city and like anywhere else in the world always keep your common sense awake, that will keep you away from risky situations or moments.

At the airport always keep your luggage in sight, keep your technological equipment in your hand bag, never leave your passport with anyone who is not an identified official and always carry your ID with you.

I recommend that you only take the official airport taxis or use transport applications. (In Mexico City UBER, Cabify, DiDi. For me, the last one is the best one).

When you are in the city avoid walking alone at night on the streets.

Payments. If you pay by card always cover your pin, never lose sight of your card, ask and keep your receipts. Also at Mexico City, it is customary to pay for some street snacks with cash only, so always carry it for any eventuality.

Public transport: If you are going to travel on the metro, metrobus or bus, always place your backpack or bag in front of you and in sight.

After these tips, I assure you that my city the only thing that will steal you, without a doubt is the heart, not for anything in the city now reside so many that one day were travelers who fell in love and could not leave.

I sign you that all the people you will meet when they know you are a tourist will want to help you, recommend you and make you laugh without asking anything in return. This is how we Mexicans are, cool people who love our country and are always willing to help

So you know, do not miss an experience of knowing and vibrating with Mexico City just because of what you have seen and heard in the news, when you are here you will be surprised with colors, flavors, people, stories, places and everything that this huge city has.
