The 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix will take place at the iconic Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, located near the Mexico City Airport. The key dates are as follows:
- Media Day: Thursday, October 24, 2024
- Free Practice 1: Friday, October 25, 2024

2. Ticket Purchase
Demand for tickets for this event is substantial, and we recommend checking the prices on their official website (link). It’s important to note that tickets are usually available for purchase a year in advance. If you’re considering buying resale tickets outside the event, exercise caution as there’s a risk of fraud and excessively high prices. If you opt for this route, request that the seller accompanies you to the entrance, and make the payment once you’re inside to avoid counterfeit tickets.
3. Accommodation
Mexico City offers a wide range of accommodation options to suit all budgets. It’s advisable to make reservations in advance, especially if you plan to attend additional events or explore the city during your stay.

If your plan is to stay near the event or the airport, be aware that these areas may be slightly less secure, although the city is generally safe for tourists. Nevertheless, it’s always wise to take additional precautions.
4. Transportation
The Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is easily accessible by public transportation or by car. However, during major events like the Mexico City Grand Prix 2024, the city experiences a significant increase in traffic. If you’re not staying near the racetrack, consider the extra time needed to reach the event.
Transportation Options:
- Public Transportation: We strongly recommend using public transportation, specifically the Mexico City metro line 9 (locally known as the brown line “linea café”) will take you directly to the circuit from the city center. Be sure to check the schedule and train availability during the event, as there may be special timetables. If Ciudad de Deportiva station is closed due to a large number of attendees, you can exit at a station before or after and walk to the Autódromo. The metro system is color-coded and has symbols, making navigation easy even if you don’t speak Spanish.
- Uber and Didi: If you decide to use ride-sharing services like Uber or Didi, be aware that fares can be high, especially from central areas like Condesa, Roma, Centro, or Polanco. Traffic can be heavy, and drivers may not be able to reach your location directly due to road closures. Consider booking in advance and allowing extra time to reach the event.
5. Local Cuisine
You can’t visit Mexico without savoring its delicious cuisine. At the racetrack, you’ll find a variety of culinary options, from tacos to more elaborate dishes. While some food may be pricey and of varying quality, we encourage you to try it.But if you have extra time, consider taking a STREET FOOD BIKE TOUR to enjoy authentic Mexican street food while exploring the city.
“Imagine pedaling away, exploring more ground in less time, soaking in Mexican culture, making new friends, and snagging insider tips from the locals. It’s all about feeling the Mexico City groove!”
6. Weather and Attire
The weather in Mexico City can be variable, so check the weather forecast before your trip. It’s recommended to wear comfortable clothing and sunscreen as the sun can be intense. Additionally, consider bringing an umbrella in case of rain since the grandstands at the racetrack lack shelter.
7. Safety
The Government of Mexico City places great emphasis on visitor safety, especially during major events like the Grand Prix. You can expect to see a significant presence of police and security personnel at the racetrack and its surroundings. Rest assured that this is designed to provide a safe and peaceful environment during your stay at the event.
Visitors can feel at ease knowing there’s visible police presence in tourist areas and on public transportation.
8. Returning to Your Hotel after the Event
If you plan to return to the city center or other neighborhoods after the event, be aware that traffic can be heavy. Ride-sharing services like Uber or Didi may also face limitations due to high traffic and road closures. Consider checking public transportation options in advance for an efficient return to your accommodation.
Attending the Mexico City Grand Prix is a unique experience that combines the excitement of Formula 1 with the rich Mexican culture. With this guide, you’ll be well-prepared to make the most of this world-class sporting event. Enjoy the show and Mexican hospitality!
